Partial Dentures
If you are missing only some of your teeth, Dr. Feriel El Ghaoui may recommend partial dentures. Partial dentures are customized to fit your smile comfortably and firmly while providing a natural-looking replacement. With partial dentures, you can regain the ability to speak and chew normally, as well as provide your neighboring teeth with the support they need to stay in place. We are pleased to also offer flexible partial dentures, which are made of a more flexible material and can provide greater comfort. If you are waiting for further treatment, such as dental implants, a dental bridge, or a more permanent denture, our dentist may also recommend temporary partial dentures. If you feel that you could benefit from partial dentures in Pinole, California, we welcome you to contact Tara Hills Dental at 510-724-7474 and schedule an appointment with our caring dentist.
A partial denture is an oral appliance used to replace missing teeth. In most cases, partial dentures are used to replace a row of several missing teeth, or if you are missing teeth on both sides of a dental arch. Our dentist will create a metal framework that bends to the shape of your mouth, and we will attach replacement teeth along the framework where your teeth are missing. A gum-colored acrylic base is then used to cover the framework up to the point of the replacement teeth; this gives the partial denture its natural appearance.
Partial dentures are most often help in place with a clasp at each end. These clasps will attach to your natural teeth to hold them in place. The way partial dentures are made and attached is very sturdy and durable, allowing you to be confident that your denture will stay in place as you go about your day. However, in some instances, our dentist may have to reshape your natural teeth to ensure that your denture clasp attaches as firmly as possible.
Replacing your missing teeth with partial dentures can have many benefits, including:
- Chewing and eating easier
- Restoring normal speech patterns
- Preventing neighboring teeth to shift out of place
- Supporting your cheeks and lips to prevent your face from sagging
- Restoring the aesthetic appearance of your smile
Patients who receive partial dentures should wear them every day. It is also necessary to regularly clean your dentures and remove them at night to provide your mouth with optimum comfort and health. If you have any questions or concerns, we invite you to call or visit our office today.
